Failures - What you don't prepare for?⚓︎
Growing up in typical middle-class families, I have observed that society, peer pressure or worst even your family prepare you only for the next immediate step but no further. Back then when I was in school, they ask you to secure a good score in 7th class and then 10th class and just two more years to complete +1, +2 and then graduation and the list goes on and ends with your funeral. What they don't prepare you is to question yourself.
What do you want out of all these years?
What you want could be anything, be silly. But let it be the thing that matters to you. The goal could be stupid as buying a bar of chocolate to finding a life partner. Just be sure that's what you want.
Set a Goal⚓︎
It's all about setting a goal. If you don't set a goal for yourself, you will end up chasing what others are doing it or what others want you to do it for their benefit.
If you are 15 years old now, what do you want to do one year down the road? IIT? NIIT? 90% score in +1/+2, first love? Whatever it is, be sure that you are setting your goal. Set a plan for a month, for a year, five years down the line.
Be Silly?⚓︎
Well, when I say be silly, it does not mean that you should have a goal for the sake of having one. For instance, I was running behind a girl when I was 16 years old and I neglected studies. Cause post those two years, I don't know where she will be. So my priority was to be with her and make memories. For adults that might be a silly goal, but that's what matters to me at that time.
DO NOT IGNORE⚓︎
At every phase of your life, few things will be more critical than others, for instance, having a bachelor degree is a somewhat minimum requirement in Indian society. It is quite okay not to have one, that's a whole different story. Point being does not ignore the primary functions that must be addressed care regardless of your interest. Whether you like it or not.
Ignorance is a bliss.
No Goal⚓︎
It is okay to not to have a goal it is better to not to have a goal then setting a wrong goal cause we don't know how far down the rabbit hole goes.
Prepare for worst?⚓︎
कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन । मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भुर्मा ते संगोऽस्त्वकर्मणि ॥
Do your best, and prepare for the worst..!
Above quote is referenced in holy book Bhagavad Gita, which means do what you ought to do, but don't expect in return. Speaking from personal experience, it is not easy to not expect anything in return from the investment you are doing, let it be money, time or emotions. It's a life skill that is hard to master. The other way to look at this is, prepare for the worst, and do your best.
Have a plan to start your own business, have a plan for the worst situations, had a love story? Prepare for the worst conditions? Getting married? What if that doesn't go well? Have a plan.
Please do understand this does not mean that you should hope or expect the worst situation to happen. It is hard to expect the worst thing to happen, especially when you have an emotional investment in your goal, but preparing the worst situations always helps you stand up sooner when things go sideways.
